How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Do I Need?

CoolSculpting has emerged as one of the most effective non-surgical treatments for removing stubborn fat that diet and exercise can’t reduce. Whether you have a muffin top, a bulge around your bra line, or even a double chin, CoolSculpting may be the solution for you, and Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics can help.

What Is CoolSculpting?

When scientists discovered fat cells freeze at a temperature different than surrounding tissues, the CoolSculpting breakthrough was born. Through a precision suction tool, CoolSculpting delivers controlled cooling to areas of fat that won’t melt away through diet and exercise. The fat cells crystalize and die, and the body’s lymphatic system organically filters the dead cells out, leaving you with a newly sculpted, more pleasing shape.

Each treatment can freeze between 20-25% of the fat cells in the target area. People have a fairly static number of fat cells throughout their lives; only the size of the cells shift with weight gain and loss. When CoolSculpting crystalizes your unwanted fat, and the cells are filtered out, you can rest easy knowing they’re gone for good! A healthy lifestyle with proper diet and exercise will maintain your new physique for long-term results you can show off.

How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Will I Need?

There is no formula to know how many CoolSculpting treatments are necessary, but the majority of patients only require 1-3 sessions to achieve their goals. Several factors, including your expectations, how many treatment areas, and your overall health prior to the procedure, affect the outcome. CoolSculpting is not intended as a treatment for obesity or dramatic weight loss. But for people who are generally healthy and maintain an active lifestyle, CoolSculpting may just be that trick up your sleeve to achieving the shape you’ve always desired.

If you are within 20-30 pounds of your ideal weight, or have specific problem areas such as the abdomen, thighs, arms, love handles, bra line, or under the chin, results can be achieved with 1-2 treatments. Some patients do require 3 treatments for areas with a greater concentration of fat.

How Fast Will I See Results?

It is important to be patient. CoolSculpting relies on your body’s lymphatic system to remove the dead fat cells, and that can take up to 4 months. If you’re still not satisfied, consider seeking your second, or even third treatment. Keep in mind that your goals must be realistic. It is not ideal to remove all of the fat cells in a given area—some fat is a vital cushion that keeps your appearance aesthetically pleasing.

You may also be surprised how much impact a 20-25% reduction will have on your silhouette. Where some patients will show no visible improvement after one session, others may have a dramatic change in the way they appear, how their clothes fit, and how they feel. CoolSculpting is less effective for larger pockets of fat after a single treatment, so for those patients, more than one session is recommended.

If you’ve done all you can to rid yourself of unwanted fat, it may be time to consider CoolSculpting at Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics. It’s not what we treat, but how we treat it, and your happiness and well-being are our priority.
