Can Stem Cells Improve My Aesthetic Treatments?

The medical innovations stem cells are capable of are still largely undiscovered, though recent indications show stem cell therapy can enhance cosmetic aesthetic treatment results dramatically. Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics is your source for revolutionary stem cell therapy used in ways science is only just beginning to understand.

Stem Cells Create Opportunity in Aesthetic Procedures

At their most basic, stem cells create new tissues and repair damaged tissues within the body. The undifferentiated pluripotent stem cells we use at Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics are derived from the placenta and contain no DNA from the mother or baby. They are essentially “blank” cells, capable of copying surrounding cells and connecting with nearly any system within the body to become new tissues.

The benefits of this can be staggering, such as repairing damaged joints and improving chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. They’ve even been shown to replicate hair follicles for hair restoration. For cosmetic enhancement procedures, we use stem cells in conjunction with laser skin resurfacing and RF needling treatments to improve skin tightening, boost the growth of collagen and elastin, and improve the appearance of scarring and reverse sun damage. Stem cells can speed recovery, boost skin quality, and elevate overall outcomes for our patients.

Stem Cells for Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments

Perhaps the most extensively studied use for stem cells in cosmetic treatments is in laser treatments. We use the Pixel CO2 laser to treat loose skin, wrinkles and fine lines, sun damage, and acne scarring in our non-surgical facelift procedure. Pixel CO2 gently removes the top layer of skin to stimulate healing and reveal younger, newer cells underlying the damaged or dead skin cells of the top layer. Once the laser treatment is completed, stem cells are applied directly to the face. Because the laser leaves tiny micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate healing, there is no need to inject the stem cells. The introduction of stem cells to these tiny injuries increases the speed at which the skin heals itself, promotes the growth of new tissues and collagen, and results in an overall more enhanced result than the procedure would see without the boost from stem cells. The advantages are to reduce swelling and redness for a shorter recovery period, and the stem cells will copy new skin cells for faster renewal and growth of collagen.

Advantages of Stem Cell Therapy in Cosmetic Treatments

While combining stem cell treatments with aesthetic procedures is still under study, the theory behind the idea is sound. There are multiple advantages to be considered:

  • Skin tightening and laser resurfacing procedures benefit from stem cells for the increase in collagen they produce.
  • Scarring is further reduced during RF needling procedures as the skin cells copy into healthy tissues surrounding the scars, making them less noticeable.
  • Sun damage is reversed more quickly by the replacement of a greater number of new skin cells.
  • Even hair restoration treatments benefit when stem cells copy hair follicles to replicate and fill in thin spots.

Stem cell therapies are in their infancy, and their addition to cosmetic enhancement procedures is only just being realized. At Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics, we’re proud to be at the forefront of this new frontier of medicine.
